Painting Supply List
BRUSHES
Drawing brush should be a Silver Brush Grand Prix Hog Bristle #0 or #1.
I use the Grand Prix Hog Bristle Filbert #'s 2,
4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 for massing in color.

For refining a portrait, Silver Renaissance Red Sable Brushes in the Cat’s Tongue Series are preferable.  Sizes 2, 4, 6, and 8,
can reduce the tension in each stroke.  Most often the task in producing the correct mark lies in the brush, not in the artist.
Several different sizes of a MOP Brush will help to blend the stroke to a smooth surface.  When we begin glazing this brush is
essential.

SUPPORT & GROUND
"Workshops only" One Pre-Gessoed Canvas, size 36" x 30"
Also for Workshops, "Color Theory" Two 20" x 16" Canvas Panels

PAINTING MEDIUM
Refined Linseed Oil or Stand Oil and Odorless Turpentine
Two glass, metal or plastic containers for holding solvent and medium.

PALETTE KNIFE
Small round tip for mixing

PALETTE
A large wood palette is preferable for mixing.  Please purchase a Masterson palette also, which helps to keep the paint from
drying out.  Also buy a sheet of glass to place inside the Masterson palette.  This allows for easy clean up.

PAPER TOWELS & BRUSH CLEANER
I use Viva towels, they feel more like cloth.  * Clean up:  I use Simple Green Soap.  It is non-toxic, bio-degradable and gentle
on brushes.  It can be found in Wal-mart, K-mart, or Sherwin Williams.

CAMERA
The first class students may take a photo of the model to use as a reference photo.

Please wear clothes that are suitable for painting or purchase a smock.  If you have any questions concerning more specific
information about materials for the class, I can be reached at my studio/home in the evenings between the hours of  7:00 – 9:
00 PM.
